Theresa Pinkney's Me Against The World
The protégé of popular gospel singer Yolanda Wyns and vocalist for Christian group Just Breathe has a mission to proclaim her love for God through song. The former student of the Duke Ellington School for the Arts now steps to the mic as a solo artist making her official foray into the gospel music industry. The D.C. area native and singer and songwriter has just released her contemporary gospel debut entitled Me Against The World. Flowing easily from pop-oriented tunes to urban-tinged tracks, Pinkney provides a strong dose of inspiration from one song to the next. Me Against The World is a 15-track project filled with a mixture of urban, R&B, pop and dance styles, yet is fully gospel. Theresa dedicates the project to one of her closest friends and mentors. Her friend, diagnosed with terminal breast cancer, played the song regularly for inspiration until her untimely passing. Because of the impact she had on Theresa’s life, Theresa is donating a portion of the proceeds of the CD to Relay For Life, part of The American Cancer Society, in her memory.
Isaac Carree Tops Billboard Chart With In The Middle
Isaac Carree celebrates the New Year with a Number 1 record. "In The Middle" the smash hit song from his solo debut UNCOMMON ME has been among the most added and most played gospel songs of the last several months and has now peaked in the top position. Reaching an audience of over 4 million, Carree continues to touch people with the message of sustained praise. UNCOMMON ME has remained in the Top 10 on Billboard's Top Gospel chart since its release in August. UNCOMMON ME debuted in #1 position on both Billboard's Top Gospel Chart and Top Christian Chart. The album also charted on the Top Independent Current Albums Chart at Number 5. Celebrating a 20-year musical journey, which began with John P. Kee & New Life and includes Men of Standard; and most recently singing with and learning from Kirk Franklin, Carree achieved this milestone with his first solo album. This is also the debut release from new label Sovereign Agency, founded by music industry veteran Monica Bacon. Bacon celebrates the accomplishment alongside Carree, partnering with him on the release of UNCOMMON ME, which is distributed by Universal Music Christian Group/Fontana, a division of Universal Music Group. Carree was recently featured in an hour-long special on SiriusXM Praise during the Christmas holiday and will continue to promote UNCOMMON ME in 2012 with upcoming appearances in LA, Nashville and more.
ANGIE HALL
For Angie Hall, music has always been a constant companion. Growing up in a small town in North Carolina, music was commonplace in a household where everyone was a singer, musician, or both. Angie began to sing at a very early age. Unable to become a member of her church youth choir until age eleven, she could often be found locked in her bedroom performing before sold out stadiums worldwide. Upon reaching the required age, Angie gladly became a member of the church youth choir and has been singing in church choirs ever since. Though Angie was a talented and dedicated member of the choirs she was a part of, she seldom sought or wanted the spotlight, and was often content to sit in the background and watch her siblings take a more aggressive approach to enter the music industry. However, though Angie did not see music as a realistic future occupation, it was undeniable that music was and would always be a big part of her life. In 2003, Angie suffered a tremendous loss after the untimely passing of her eldest brother, Samuel. Music was also a huge part of Sam’s life, and he often included Angie in musical events and programs that he planned.
